Quote of the Day

More people need to understand this. Everyone’s always trying to define and quantity things and, as history has shown us, time and time again, it just doesn’t work and isn’t true. Life is about going at your own pace, not everyone else’s. Your normal is your normal. Live your life. Do what makes you happy. Learn, grow, and do when you are ready.

Advice to Live By

“Do what you can, when you can, how you can, with what you have, where you are.”
                   – Theodore Roosevelt

If all you can do is spread the word, that is good enough. Do what you can to help take care of and preserve this beautiful home of ours. We are not more important that this planet. We are equal to nature because we a part of nature. Respect, love, and protect your home and fellow inhabitants.

To Be Honest

The choice to live, is yours and yours alone.
The choice to make the best of your situation, is yours and yours alone.
The choice to make it through whatever you’re going through, is yours and yours alone.
The choice of happiness, is yours and yours alone.
The choice to love, is yours and yours alone.
The things you put your energy into become your reality. Life, love, adventure, fun, happiness, health, wealth, excitement, prosperity, peace, awareness, it’s all yours. You have all these things. But they will only be if you give your energy to, do, and be of these things.
The choice is yours.
You can be suffering from a number of things such as depression, low self-esteem, poverty, abuse, whatever. But if you make the choice to live, to figure out what it is you love and do it, it will happen for you. If you decide where it is you want to be and get after it, you will get there. The story is seen time and time again, throughout history as well, of people who experienced things such as depression, poverty, abuse, and worse, but they made a choice to not let their circumstance/situation control them or get the best of them. They fought through and came out on top. It’s all based on what you choose. What you give power to, has power over you. If you let others have power over you, they will control you. If you own your power, you will control yourself and your life and no one and nothing can stop you.
It’s all up to you.

Personally, from the age of 6 to 17, I had low, very low, self-esteem. But I always had an amazing family that loved me. That was my saving grace. Whether you have an extra support system in family and/or friends or not, in the end, you have to be your main support system. Eventually, I made the decision to love and accept myself as I am. I stopped letting everything that little voice in the back of my mind said get to me. Since then, I have been the happiest I have ever been and life has been the best experience. I learned that your life is as good as you allow it to be. I also learned that I can control my thoughts and emotions. Sometimes they’re strong and a little harder to reign in, but I don’t let my emotions get the best of me anymore. My life experience is continually getting better. That’s the attitude you have to have. You have to be and stay upbeat, you have to keep a positive, good attitude, good vibes, good energy, a positive perspective, an open heart, mind, spirit, soul, a willingness to learn and grow, and a determination to conquer your fears. You have to be in the mindset that you and your life are always getting better and work towards that. Bettering yourself and growing isn’t convenient. At least not all the time. It takes work and there’s trial and error. But that’s life. Once you get into it, it really does get easier and life gets better.

I am a living example that choice does exist and it does matter. You have a choice. “You always have the choice.”

Quote of the Day

“For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the sheltered will never know.”
                – Theodore Roosevelt

You have to have the desire and the drive to live. Life doesn’t give you everything, you have to take and work for what you want. Love, be kind, experience life, enjoy life, do what you love, and create the life you want.

What The Movie ‘Dead Poets Society’ Taught Me

I saw this film for the first time yesterday. I smiled, I learned, I laughed, I bawled, I felt all the feelings watching this amazing movie. Dead Poets Society is a movie starring Robin Williams, one of the greatest actors, comedians, and people ever, along with a few other notable actors. It is a movie that speaks the truth of conformity, tradition, and the way many people, including a lot of our elders, stifle us, box us into small containers, and use us as dolls to do and be what they want us to do and be. They don’t want free thinking, open-minded, individual human beings who live for themselves. They want control. They don’t disipline, they punish. They always have someone to blame and use as a scapegoat to contiue their selfish and unecessary deeds. That’s the way it’s been for so long.

This movie taught me that we should each be a free thinker and a critical thinker. Use the brains you were born with. Use the heart you were born with. Use the spirit you were born with. Use the soul you were born with. Use the body you were born with. It also speaks the truth of learning that life is about seizing your life, doing what you love, getting out of your comfort zone, and learning that failure is a part of life. You have to take chances, stand your ground, and move to your own beat. Know yourself, accept yourself, be yourself.

Do not conform to the mold that others have made for you. You do not fit. You are greater than any cage someone else makes for you and you should not be slave to your own self doubt. You are worthy of every great attribute you were born with. You deserve the best and to be yourself. You deserve to truly live. It’s easy to conform and let people lead you but in the end, it’s each one of us who has to take the reigns of our own lives. We can not let every little thing our mind tells us control us. We have to master our minds, our spirits, our souls, our hearts, and our fears. Good and bad things happen, we fail and we triumph, there are ups and downs, and there are tough times and easy times. But no matter what, we can make it through, we can endure, we can overcome, and we conquer. Come as you are, learn, grow, broaden your horizons, and experience life. No matter what, know that you are loved and cared for, and know that you’re never ever ever alone.
