What I’m coming to terms with and have learned is that how you think of, perceive, and treat yourself determines everything in your life. It affects how you treat others, what you do, how you do it, if you do it, when you do it, where you do it. (It being whatever action that applies to whatever situation or circumstance you are dealing or will have to deal with.) Your thoughts and feelings about yourself translate into everything you do in your life.
I am a kind person and do nice things, but I used to do it just because I wanted attention, wanted to fit in, be liked, and be popular. Well, that never got me what I wanted. Why? Because those were all the wrong reasons to be kind and nice. You have to be yourself and live your life for the right reason, which is for yourself. You owe no one, anything. Your life is yours and it is meant for you to live it the way you want to. We must ackowledge, know, be, and accept ourselves. We are ever-growing, ever changing beings and we need to mind that.
We are our own worst critics. The meanest person in the world to others is still kind compared to the hell we put our own selves through. You have to look carefully and honestly at yourself. You need to see yourself as you are and deal with it. Improve what can be improved. Get rid of what does not serve you. You have to take care of yourself and do what’s best for you. You must learn to constantly check yourself. This is an every second of every day practice. And let me just add, that perfection has NOTHING to do with anything. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about doing your best in all that you do. Always put forth your best effort.
In order for us to be the best we can for others we must firstly take care of ourselves. Get to know yourself this year. Understand yourself and who you are. Become one with yourself. It’s well worth it.
