3 Lessons Kids Teach Us

(Repost from Tumblr)

1) There are always a few reasons to be happy; whether it be that you are alive, someone you love is alive and well, you get to see this beautiful world, and so on. But even when we can’t see them we can still be happy, because being happy is about being grateful and enjoying where you are, what you have, and who you have in the present moment; even if you only have yourself. Be grateful and go from there.

2) We can all constantly be doing something to better ourselves and others. We can do so through reading, learning, and whatever other ways specific to you that help you in what you love. There is so much knowledge our there for you, you just have to be willing and ready to learn.

3) Know what you want, let it be known, and then do the work to get it. Sometimes it’s as easy as simply asking for what you want, other times you have to work for it. Get moving and make your way to whatever it is you’re passionate about and desire. Do what you need to do to get where you want to be.

To Be Honest/ Word Vomit

I need everyone reading this to understand this. THIS IS THE TRUTH. THIS is why the world is where and how it is, right now. Because too many of us see all the darkness happening and are not standing up and speaking up to better the world and spread light. Too many of us do not care about the injustices of the dark until they directly affect us, then we become angry, then it is a major problem, then it matters, simply because it happened to you instead of some other random person. We have allowed darkness to spread and by doing so and not doing anything about it (because it can’t and won’t happen to us – so the mentality goes), we actually create the environment and provide the perfect opportunity for ourselves to be wronged, hurt, and subject to injustice.

Stand up for what is right.
Speak up when something wrong is happening.
Do the right thing.
It benefits you and everyone else around you. One voice can make a difference, but many voices can cause change; and that my friends is what is important, to make changes to ourselves and the world around us for the better. This is something I am currently learning to do. I have sat and held my tongue for too long, I have stifled myself for too long, and for no reason. This is not only my story, it is the story and current situation for a lot of us. But we can change it. We can do better. We can be better. And we will be. Take the necessary steps to create the change you need to truly connect with, find, create, and become who you really are. It is a long, tough, and winding road that leads you through the most wondrous and beautiful places. It is worth all the effort in the world.

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Ghandi
Go into this world, live your life, and do what you can for others. You deserve to live the best life possible, and so does everyone else around you. You are not alone, you’ve never been alone, and you will never be alone. Lonely times will come, but no matter what, there is always someone out there who is with you. Your path is your own, and obstacles will stand in your way and you will have to face them by yourself, but you’ve got a giant support system cheering you on that includes many beautiful souls, including me. Take care of yourself, know yourself, be yourself, and let your light shine and inspire others.

When we can be who we truly are, the rest will take care of itself and fall into place. We each will be free and those good vibes, that good energy, and that happiness will spread and change this world into a place more beautiful than it has ever been. Again, the road is not always easy, but everything happens for a reason.

Love yourself and love others.

Advice to Live By

This was a quote from the Cinderella movie (which if you remember from my post Monday, I mentioned I’m totally in love with). This quote hit me square in the heart. It was something I really needed to hear and didn’t even realize it. I have since began to work on this, having courage and being kind. Not that I’m not kind, but I could always do better and be even kinder than I was before. This quote really inspired me to better and has helped me take a close look at myself, I hope it does the same for you.

Quote of the day

Flaws are a part of who we are. And who we are, individually, as a race, and as a species, is beautiful. Yes, we have the capacity to do bad things and be bad people, and there are those who unfortunately embrace this; but on the grand scale of things, most of us do not embrace that side. We are good people. We are not our downfalls, we are not our mistakes, we are not our failures. They help shape who we become but they do not define us.

We are beautiful, creative, innovative, faithful, hopeful, brilliant, incredible, honest, truthful, dependable, trustworthy, understanding, kind, giving, caring, sharing, loving beings with an immpecable capacity for good and greatness of this phenomenal, gorgeous, precious planet called Earth. And NO ONE can take away or change who you are. Only YOU have the power to decide who you are.

That being said, I must warn you that it is wise to watch who you let influence yourself. I’m not sure if you’ve ever heard of or read the story ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ by Oscar Wilde, but this character let someone else who had an immoral mentality influence him and, well… I’ll let you read it. Or you can watch one of the film adaptations. My point is, be careful of the company you keep. Choose wisely those who you let into your space. Everyone around you has an influence on you, but you should only let those who are positive, good hearted, and radiate positive energy influence you. And be sure to learn not only from your mistakes, but also from the mistakes of those around you as well. Many great lessons can be learned by simply paying attention and being aware of what’s around you.

All-in-all, you are beautiful. Know it, understand it, because you are.

Quote of the day

“I don’t need easy, I just need possible.”
      – Bethany Hamilton, Soul Surfer

The easy road isn’t always the best road. When things are a little hard and a bit difficult it is a time in which you build yourself and your character. When times are easy you have the chance to enjoy life and know the value of things after learning from you went through. So don’t always look for the easy way to do things. Taking the road less traveled can have some great benefits.

Quote of the day

“Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and tho’
We are not now that strength which
In the old days
Moved the earth and heaven; that
Which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong
In will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”

We have what it takes to make it through our storms, trials, and tribulations. Though we are not always at our best, we can power through whatever it is that we need to to make things works.
